Klazo - 'Demik Dementia

‘Demik Dementia LP
No Front Teeth / Big Neck Records, 2022

After spinning their 2017 debut Embarrassed of Living LP a number of times and hearing their contribution to the inaugural Killed By Meth compilation, I always wondered where Klazo took their name from. Well low and behold, the backside of the sleeve from this smoking new album explains that it’s a Greek word that translates to “to shout”, which makes total sense, as this demented London, Ontario duo has been kicking up a ragged-ass rock-n-roll racket since 2015. ‘Demik Dementia might just contain their nastiest cuts so far, and that’s saying a lot for a band who’ve covered some of the most treasured veins of KBD gold, including spirited takes on tracks by bands like Freestone, The Nubs, and included here, raging renditions of The Pack’s “Nobody Can Tell Us” and “Jaguar Ride” by the almighty Electric Eels. If their debut was lacking anything, it was an unadulterated in-the-red production that captures the fire of Klazo bashing through a set of punk rawk rippers. Thanks to ace production by Will Killingsworth at Dead Air Studios, grade A killers like “Parasitic Pretenders” and “Too Many People” can be experienced with the proper amount of heat.
